Our 75-100mm creosoted treated cundy fence posts are made from slow-grown european redwood, primarily pine, known for its open cell structure. This allows the creosote treatment to penetrate deeply and hold better than other types of wood, such as whitewood. Before treatment, the timber is carefully dried to a moisture content of below 28%, ensuring optimal absorption of the creosote. The cundy finish also differs from the common machined round posts, where instead of a uniform finish, the timber diameter ranges from 75mm up to 100mm across the entire length of the post.
The creosote treatment itself involves heating the preservative to around 90 c and applying it under a pressure of approximately 3 bar, giving the post a long-lasting protection. With a life expectancy of at least 40 years, these posts are highly durable and ideal for agricultural fencing, boundary marking, and other large-scale agricultural applications.
The colour of the post can range from light brown to almost black, but this variation does not affect the quality. All posts are treated in the uk and conform to european standards.
