A great alternative to solar, battery, mains, or glow in the dark technology. The flowers are made with 3mm thick colourful fluorescent acrylic that work like a typical 'suncatcher' in the bright sunshine, if placed near to a light coloured wall or floor it will cast colourful projections, but at dusk and dawn, or on overcast days, they appear to illuminate around the edges, creating a funky effect in low light. Mounted onto a strong but flexible rod, or stem, they blow around in the breeze, creating not only cool lighting and colour, but also movement.
Not just for the garden either, short wave light is all around us, they'll create the same effect indoors too, so they could be incorporated into a table decoration for something a bit funky and different they are also highly uv reactive, so make the perfect decor item for sensory rooms, or at uv blacklight parties they're pretty easy to assemble, just a little fiddly , add the fixing ring onto the stem, followed by the flower, and top with the cap.
How does it work
made from a special fluorescent acrylic with a laser cut edge, they collect short wave light that we can't see, and transfers the light into a visible long wave light along the laser cut edge, sometimes called edge glow or lit edge technology.
How does they differ
they aren't 'photoluminescent' glow in the dark , they don't need to charge, and they don't need to be in pitch black to see the effect, in fact they look best at dusk and dawn, or cloudy weath...
