The typically intense flavor profile of the zinfandel variety is enhanced by the use of old vines which produce grapes with more concentration and depth of flavor. The result is a powerful red which is ideal to pair with hearty red meat dishes like steak, beef stew, or roast pork and lamb. While it is drinking very well now, the wine will continue to develop over the next 6 years or so. The mettler family have been growing grapes in california’s lodi valley since the late 1800s.
