The estate was founded in 1895 by italian immigrant edoardo seghesio and his wife angela who began planting vines in the alexander valley. Today the winery has more than 300 acres spread across top regions like dry creek valley, alexander valley, and the russian river valley. Seghesio is also home to some seriously old vines, including the oldest sangiovese in the united states. This particular cuvee shows off their expertise with zinfandel, using fruit sourced from their historic westphall ranch and mauritson campground vineyard which helped establish the rockpile ava american viticultural area .
