They are especially suited for making porridge, oaty grits, flapjacks and veggie burgers and should always be used over regular oats for such purposes. Why should i get pinhead oatmeal coarse to make porridge: add a cupful of oats to a pint of water in a saucepan and bring to a steady simmer for 10 minutes. Add milk and bring back to a simmer before serving with fruit or honey to taste. To make biscuits & flapjack mixes: soak the oats and mix butter and molasses in a pan and heat gently. Combine all the ingredients and form into patties. Bake in the oven for 15 minutes, or fry in a pan.
