Articular cartilages have a limited capacity for regeneration and renewal. During life, cartilage gradually wears out and is damaged. It is possible to slow the wear and tear of articular cartilage and improve its regeneration by supplying the joint with the building blocks of cartilage in the form of joint nutrition. The basic elements of cartilage and joint structures are glucosamine, chondroitin and collagen. Chondroitin sulfate binds water, maintains cartilage elasticity and blocks cartilage-damaging enzymes. Glucosamine sulfate stimulates chondrocyte metabolism and slows cartilage degeneration. Type ii collagen provides strength and flexibility to cartilage and joint structures. Vitamin c is involved in collagen metabolism and protects cells from oxidative damage.
