Cumbria hosts the lakes distillery, founded in 2011 by paul currie, co-founder of isle of arran distillery. Situated within a renovated farmstead by river derwent in a national park, they innovate due to limited space, using custom stills for whisky and a smaller one for lakes gin vodka. Whisky master dhavall ghandi joined in 2016, infusing tradition with fresh inspiration. The lakes introduced the whiskymaker’s reserve in 2019, a series of single malts. Located near penrith, it's a gem of heritage and innovation.
