She meets aladdin, a poor young man, who is captured by a merchant named jafar and taken to the cave of wonders to find a lamp hidden there along with various treasures. He notices by chance that the lamp has magical powers and thinks that he could use it to become rich, so that he can marry jasmine, the princess he was in love with.
After several adventures, helped by an enchanted carpet, aladdin manages to defeat jafar, recover the enchanted lamp and free the spirit. Because jasmine loves aladdin, the sultan changes the laws so that they can marry.
