The active ingredient of scalibor is deltamethrin, which is released slowly and gradually by rubbing the collar against the fur and skin of the dog's neck throughout the period of activity. Furthermore, the active ingredient spreads evenly in the sebum and around the fur throughout the dog's body. For effective protection, the collar should be applied one week before the dog is introduced into an infested area, given the time needed for the active substance to spread through the animal.
