What accessories should I buy first for my air fryer?

Start with a rack with skewers and a baking accessory kit. Those two cover a lot of ground—grilling, kebabs, and small bakes—so you can experiment right away without a big outlay.

Will air fryer accessories work across different brands?

Some accessories are brand-specific due to basket and heating element layouts, but universal items like probe thermometers, silicone mats, and basic wire racks often fit multiple models. Always measure the basket interior in inches before buying.

Are stainless steel accessories better than nonstick?

Stainless steel is more durable and better for high-heat and metal-utensil use, while nonstick accessories are easier to clean and lighter. If longevity is a priority, choose stainless; if ease of cleaning matters more, pick nonstick-coated pieces and handle them gently.

How do I keep the pizza accessory from making the crust soggy?

Preheat the pizza accessory briefly and avoid overloaded toppings. Cook at around 375°F and give the pizza a few minutes longer if the crust needs extra crisping. A light brush of oil on the crust helps create a golden bottom.

Can I use skewers and racks for frozen food items?

Yes. Skewers and racks are excellent for frozen snacks because they raise items and allow hot air to circulate evenly. Expect slightly longer cook times—add a few minutes and check internal temperature for the best results.

Top Deep Fryer & Air Fryer Accessories to Upgrade Your Crispy Cooking

Why Deep Fryer and Air Fryer Accessories Matter

If you love crispy food but hate the fuss, the right accessories can turn your fryer into a mini gourmet kitchen. Accessories expand what your fryer can do — from grilling kebabs to baking a small cake — and they help you cook faster, cleaner, and with better results. Think of accessories as the Swiss Army knife for your fryer: one appliance, many tricks.

Key Types of Accessories and What They Do

Accessories for deep fryers and air fryers typically fall into categories like grill kits, baking trays, racks with skewers, steam-and-stir trays, and separator inserts. Each type solves a cooking problem: racks lift food for crisping, skewers handle kebabs, baking kits turn your fryer into a tiny oven, and separators let you cook several items at once without mixing flavors. Knowing which category addresses your needs is half the battle.

Grill Kits

Grill kits provide raised surfaces and grill plates designed to create char marks and quick browning. For example, the Philips AF accessory grill kits (like the HD9946-00 and HD9926-00) include skewers and grate pieces specifically shaped for even grilling in medium and large fryers. They’re ideal for fish, chicken, and halloumi slices.

Baking Accessory Kits

Baking kits, such as the Philips HD9925/01 baking accessory kit, usually include trays and separators that allow you to bake small cakes, tarts, and bread. These kits keep heat circulating properly so bakes come out evenly browned—handy when you want a dessert without firing up your full-size oven.

Spotlight: Philips Airfryer-Compatible Accessories

Philips has a broad ecosystem of accessories for different Airfryer sizes, and many users like the brand for its well-fitting parts. Below I break down some of the notable Philips items and how you might use them.

Airfryer XL Accessory — Philips HD9905/00

The HD9905/00 accessory set is made for XL fryers, giving you larger trays and racks so you can cook for a crowd. If you often serve family meals or want to batch-cook snacks for a game night, XL accessories let you handle more pounds of food per batch without crowding.

2-in-1 Steam and Stir-Fry Tray — Philips HD9960/00

This versatile insert lets you steam vegetables and stir-fry small quantities in the Airfryer’s hot air environment. It’s a simple way to add moist cooking methods to a primarily dry-heat appliance — great for delicate fish fillets or vegetables that need gentle care.

Grill Kit for Air Fryer 6.2 qt XL — Philips HD9946/00

Designed for the 6.2 L equivalent (about 6.5 quarts) XL Airfryer, this kit usually comes with five skewers — perfect for kebabs or corn dogs. The skewers give you a neat, grill-like finish and make turning foods easy without using tongs that can damage nonstick surfaces.

3-part Food Separator — Philips HD9916/00

Want to cook multiple items at once? The food separator divides the basket into three compartments so you can cook fries, nuggets, and veggies together without flavor transfer. It’s a real timesaver and reduces the need for multiple batches.

Pizza & Grill Accessory for Combi 7000 Series — Philips HD9963/00

If you love a crispy bottom on your small, homemade pizzas, the pizza accessory is a game-changer. It ensures even heat distribution and helps toppings bake without sogginess. Combined with a grill plate, you can get a golden crust and grilled toppings in minutes.

Electrolux Accessories Worth Considering

Electrolux also offers thoughtfully designed kits. If you own an Electrolux Airfryer, their accessory sets like the EAFEK1 and the EAFEK2 (Taste Elevation Kit — EAFEK2) can expand your cooking repertoire with parts tailored for specific models.

Electrolux EAFEK1 Air Fryer Accessory Kit

This starter kit typically includes racks and trays sized to fit Electrolux baskets. It’s a solid pick if you’re after reliable, well-fitting inserts for everyday use, especially for grilling and small bakes.

Taste Elevation Kit — EAFEK2

The EAFEK2 brings specialized pieces aimed at improving flavor and presentation, like mesh trays and multi-use racks. These are the sorts of accessories that make your home-cooked meals look plated for a restaurant without long prep.

Practical Buying Guide: How to Choose the Right Accessory

When shopping for fryer accessories, compatibility and size matter most. Check the model numbers carefully—an accessory that fits a 6.5-quart Airfryer won’t always work in a 3.4-quart unit. Beyond fit, consider material (stainless steel is durable; nonstick coatings help release food), cleaning ease, and whether the accessory is dishwasher-safe if you’re low on time.

Measure for Fit

Measure the internal dimensions of your fryer basket in inches and compare them to accessory listings. If a kit is labeled for a 6.2 L fryer, think “about 6.5 quarts” when comparing sizes. Leaving a little breathing room around accessories improves hot-air circulation, which is the secret to crispiness.

Material and Coating

Stainless steel holds up to high heat and metal utensils; nonstick-coated aluminum is lighter and easier to clean but can scratch. For skewers and racks that take high direct heat, opt for stainless steel if you want longevity.

Ease of Cleaning

Accessories that are dishwasher-safe save time, but nonstick coatings often clean easily by hand with warm, soapy water. If you cook sticky glazes or cheese-heavy foods, look for accessories with smooth surfaces or removable parts that let you soak them quickly.

Maintenance, Safety, and Care Tips

Accessories can extend the life of your fryer, but they also need care. Always allow parts to cool to room temperature before washing, and never use abrasive pads on nonstick surfaces. For safety, check skewers for secure handles and avoid overfilling baskets — overcrowding traps moisture and ruins crisping.

Temperature and Timing

Airfryers run at temperatures typically between 300°F and 400°F. When adding accessories like grill plates or trays, expect heat distribution to change slightly — you may need to reduce time by a minute or two compared to direct basket cooking. Always monitor the first batch with a meat thermometer if needed.

Storage and Longevity

Store accessories in a dry place and nest smaller pieces to save space, but avoid stacking anything heavy on nonstick-coated parts to prevent warping. With regular care, stainless accessories can last for years; coated parts last longer when handled gently.

Recipes and Use-Cases: What to Cook with These Accessories

Accessories open doors. Here are quick ideas to try:

Crispy Vegetable Medley with Steam & Stir Tray

Use the Philips 2-in-1 steam and stir-fry tray to gently cook a mix of bell peppers, zucchini, and snap peas at 350°F for about 8–10 minutes, shaking halfway through for even color and slight char.

Skewered Chicken Kebabs on Skewer Kits

Thread marinated chicken and veggies on the five-skewer set (like the PH HD9946/00 kit) and grill at 375°F for 12–15 minutes. Turn once to get an even sear—juicy inside, crisp outside.

Small-Batch Pizza with Pizza Accessory

Preheat the pizza accessory for a few minutes, add your assembled mini pizza, and cook at 375°F for 6–8 minutes. You should get a firm crust and bubbling, slightly charred cheese top.

Accessories Not in the List but Worth Buying

Beyond brand kits, a few universal accessories can be game-changers: a digital probe thermometer for precise internal temps, silicone liners that protect nonstick coatings, and a wire rack that raises food for extra airflow. These are inexpensive upgrades that often deliver the biggest quality-of-life boost.

Probe Thermometer

Use a probe to check doneness for thick chicken breasts and roasts without cutting into them. Aim for 165°F for chicken and 145°F for pork, measured in the thickest part.

Silicone Nonstick Mats

These prevent cheese and glazes from bonding to trays and simplify cleanup. They’re particularly useful with the baking kits or pizza accessory when you want to avoid sticky residue.

Comparing Philips vs Electrolux Accessories

Both brands make solid, purpose-built accessories. Philips accessories often have a wider selection for varied Airfryer sizes, while Electrolux tends to focus on a compact set of versatile pieces. Your decision should be based on which brand matches your fryer model and which items you’ll use most. If you switch fryers frequently or want universal use, lean toward stainless steel or universal-sized accessories.

Final Thoughts Before You Buy

Think about how you cook today and how you want to cook next year. If you host often, get XL-compatible trays and multiple racks. If you bake more than you fry, prioritize baking kits and pizza accessories. And if you value low cleanup, pick dishwasher-safe, nonstick pieces. Accessories are investments that pay off with saved time, improved meals, and more adventurous cooking.

Conclusion

Choosing the right deep fryer and air fryer accessories can transform an everyday appliance into a multifunctional kitchen star. From Philips grill and pizza accessories to Electrolux kits and universal add-ons like probe thermometers and silicone mats, there’s an accessory to match almost every cooking need. Measure your fryer, prioritize material and cleaning convenience, and pick accessories that fit how you cook. With the right pieces, you’ll spend less time babysitting food and more time enjoying the crispy, flavorful results.
