Laxative . This medication has a stimulant and lubricating laxative effect, due to the presence of picosulfate and paraffin, respectively. Picosulfate stimulates peristalsis by direct action on the mucosa or on the myenteric plexuses, while paraffin coats the stool with a hydrophobic layer that prevents water loss. Special warnings
The cause of constipation should be diagnosed before treatment, ruling out the possibility of gastrointestinal tract obstructions or appendicitis.
Before starting treatment, the patient must be properly hydrated and have normal electrolyte levels. Treatment should not be started if these levels are abnormal. Continued use may lead to habituation.
If after 1 week of use, constipation does not improve, persists or worsens, you should consult your doctor or pharmacist.
It is recommended to administer this medication at bedtime, and if a second dose is necessary, in the morning on an empty stomach.
