What’s the difference between a flood light and a spot light for work tasks?
A flood light spreads illumination broadly, great for painting, flooring, and general room coverage. A spot light focuses brightness into a narrower beam, ideal for inspections or precision tasks like wiring and engine work. Many users keep one of each: a flood to light the area and a spot to tackle detail.
Are high bay lights like the Ansell Z-led 1 suitable for home garages?
Yes—if your garage has higher ceilings or you want bright, even coverage across vehicles and workbenches. High bays are designed for elevated mounting and wide spread, making them excellent for larger garages, workshops, or barn-style spaces with ceilings in the 15–30 ft range.
Can I use a 110V work light in a domestic setting?
Most homes run on 240V sockets, so a 110V work light typically needs the appropriate transformer and connectors used on job sites. If you mainly work at home, a 240V model is simpler. If you split time between home and site, owning both or using a proper step-down setup can keep you flexible.
How long do rechargeable work lights usually run?
Runtime depends on battery capacity, brightness setting, and temperature. Compact inspection lights might run a few hours per charge, while larger 20w class floods can last longer on lower brightness. Look for models with multiple power modes so you can extend runtime when needed.
What does IP65 mean, and do I need it?
IP65 indicates strong protection against dust and resistance to water jets. For outdoor work, damp environments, or messy trades, IP65 (or similar) adds peace of mind and longevity. If you mostly work indoors and keep things dry, a lower rating can be fine, but higher protection pays off in tough conditions.
